The Samaritan Association of Georgia (SSK), in partnership with ASB Georgia, is leading a vital initiative focused on preventing and responding to gender-based and domestic violence in western Georgia. Rooted in community needs, the project aims to improve access to support services, raise awareness, and strengthen local systems to protect and empower vulnerable women and girls.
Our Mission
We strive to create safer, more inclusive communities where survivors of violence are supported, voices are heard, and prevention is everyone’s responsibility. By combining professional support, community empowerment, and institutional cooperation, the project fosters a long-term, sustainable response to GBV and DV.
Key Areas of Action
Psychosocial and Legal Support
The project provides confidential, survivor-centered support through regional counseling centers. Services include psychological consultations, legal guidance, mobile outreach, and individualized referrals to ensure survivors receive the help they need in a safe and supportive environment.
Women’s Empowerment through Self-Help Groups
In each region, SSK supports the creation of self-help groups made up of survivors, local women leaders, and community advocates. These groups serve as safe spaces for mutual support, awareness-raising, and collective action. Group members are trained in recognizing and responding to violence and become key drivers of change in their communities.
Training and Professional Development
To strengthen the overall response to GBV and DV, the project invests in the training of service providers and local actors. Through structured training programs, professionals gain knowledge in psychological first aid, communication with survivors, and ethical and legal aspects of violence prevention.
Community Awareness and Outreach
Widespread awareness-raising campaigns are conducted in urban and rural areas to reduce stigma, inform the public about support services, and promote zero tolerance for violence. Public materials, events, and campaigns focus on empowering women and encouraging open dialogue.
Partnership and Coordination with Municipalities
SSK works closely with local municipalities, civil society organizations, and service providers to build a coordinated, multi-sectoral response. The project supports referral systems, stakeholder mapping, and collaborative events aimed at strengthening institutional commitment and community engagement.
Our Vision
Through this project, SSK envisions communities where women and girls are free from violence, where survivors are treated with dignity and care, and where support systems are strong, accessible, and inclusive. The approach is not only about responding to violence — it is about building a culture of safety, respect, and solidarity.
